Floating Trip

Details and Logistics

A little over a week before our floating trip and here are some details to keep in mind and plan for:

We will be floating the Niangua River in Missouri - the river is constant 55F so if you need to plan on bringing a wet suite, now is the time to plan for it!

Online Survey

Read the following but also have THIS ONLINE FORM open so you can respond and get us some feedback. It will help us plan a few things and make the whole trip as enjoyable as possible!

Location

We will be staying at Guest House #15 of the NRO Camp. Address of Guest house is 1655 MO-64, Tunas, MO 65764. Get out from the KCMO area as if you are driving to Branson: I-49 south to Harrisonville, take the exit to Hwy 7 towards Clinton. Make it into Clinton and go east on Hwy 7 towards Warsaw, MO. Past Warsaw, get on Hwy 65 and head south. In Lousburg, at the four-way stop, go east and head east on Hwy 64 - watch for the signs for the NRO camp ground - don’t take the left turn on Corkery Rd but continue another 100-150 yards and Guest House #15 will be on your left side.

Lodging

We have a guest house that can sleep up to 18 people but there are only 9 beds! We have one crew member staying in his own RV (Jim, we are envious but you’ll miss all the snoring!) - and one room is already designated for Rusty Lee and his white noise machine! That thing is loud! Bring your own ear plugs! We will need at least 3 guys to bring their own air-mattresses and/or cots and sleeping bags - or we need at least 4 guys who don’t mind sharing a bed with someone else! Please respond in the online survey form so we can plan accordingly.

We will need to know how many cars will arrive/park so we can get parking passes. Please respond in the online form so we know how we all get there, i.e., number of vehicles.

Food

Dinner will be served on Friday at 7pm. Please plan on arriving by 7pm or let us know and we will save you a plate. We need feedback on what to cook/prepare and will need to collect $10 per person for dinner and breakfast. Breakfast will be at 7am in the Guest House and we will need to check out right after breakfast and head out to the NRO office to check in for our float trip.

Floating/Kayaking

Cost is about the same no matter the size of vessel and it doesn’t matter if you bring your own kayak: NRO will still charge you $40 for hauling your kayak! Please respond in the online form so we can get an idea of what everyone wants to do for the floating: you can do a single kayak (your own or rent)… or a two-men canoe… or a four-men raft… we need to finalize the configuration of vessels after dinner so we can make one payment as a group. $$$ will be due to Nasko either cash or Venmo/CashApp or Zelle… this will speed up our check-in process in the morning.

River Time

We can get on the river as early as 8:30am but will have to be at the NRO office by 8am and ready to go! It is late September so hopefully all the drinking and partying people are in far away and behind us! We will do the 7 mile trip down the river - it can take us 3-4 hours of unrushed time on the river - we can do another trip and try to do the 14 miles for time! If we all end up floating in kayaks - hey, why not!? We can try and do the 14 miles but this will almost for sure eliminate grabbing lunch on the way home as we will be getting out of the river in the early afternoon! Please respond in the online survey form so we know what you prefer/want to rent as your river vessel.

VERY IMPORTANT: Please, please, please fill out and sign this online form for NRO as they need to have these done by all of us before we get our boarding passes!

Online Waiver NRO Form is HERE.

Lunch After the River

Based on when we all get out of the river and get back to our cars, we can set a meeting time at the Dam Restaurant in Warsaw, MO (801 Kennedy Dr, Warsaw, MO 65355), it is our on our way back home and it is 1hr drive (55 miles) from the NRO office. Please mark your lunch options in the online form so we can call the place and let them know how many of us will descent on them at 2:07pm.

Miscellaneous

Bring your picnic chair for some time around the fire pit on Friday night. Bring your ear plugs, you will need them! For the time on the river, bring your snacks and water. NRO has a little shop that sells snacks, etc. but the options are limited. Bring your own bedding, just in case - or just a sleeping bag and a pillow. We will need a few guys to also bring a bundle of fire wood for the fire pit!

Most of all, bring your expectation for some adventure and a great time of fellowship and doing something fun with your brothers from the Amazing Men’s Tribe of RLC!

Financial Stuff

Your $40 deposit was to help secure the guest house but that $40 was based on having 16 guys share 8 beds. Plans changed and we got ourselves a bigger house but the $40 is not changing. However, we will need to collect another $40 for your river vessel and another $10 for the dinner and breakfast plans. Please plan on bringing $50 cash for all that and we will be making a one lump sum payment to the NRO for the renting of vessels.
